What it does

SumatraPDF opens PDFs almost instantly and stays out of the way, with no toolbars full of upsells and no account. It also reads ePub and MOBI ebooks, XPS, DjVu and CBZ or CBR comics.

It is a reader first. You can highlight and add simple annotations, but for filling complex forms or signing documents you will want a full PDF editor.

  • A portable version runs from a folder or USB stick without installing anything.
  • If Edge keeps opening your PDFs, make SumatraPDF the default in Settings › Apps › Default apps.
