What it does

Windows can dim a laptop screen, but not most external monitors. Twinkle Tray adds a taskbar flyout with a brightness slider for every connected display, using the monitor's own DDC/CI controls, so you stop reaching for the buttons on the back.

It can change brightness by time of day or when you are idle, even out brightness across different monitors, and bind hotkeys to any display.

MonitorControl for Windows: real brightness control for external screens, from the taskbar.

Good to know

  • Your monitor needs DDC/CI switched on. Most monitors support it, but some ship with it off in the on-screen menu.
  • Laptop screens show up in the same flyout, so one slider panel handles every display.
