What it does

Windows Terminal hosts every command line you use in one window: PowerShell, Command Prompt, Linux distributions under WSL and SSH sessions, each in its own tab or split pane.

Text is drawn on the GPU, themes and fonts with ligatures are supported, and a drop-down quake mode is one shortcut away. On current versions of Windows 11 it is already the default terminal.

  • Settings live in a JSON file as well as the settings screen, so you can copy them between PCs.
